How these converters work

1

Enter your quantity

A cubic-yard amount or a tonnage, whichever you already have — no sign-up required.

2

Pick your material

Every material has its own density — the converter uses the right one and shows it.

3

Get the converted amount

The other unit, plus cubic feet, pounds and an approximate truck-load count.

Why not just use a generic converter?

A generic unit converter can turn yards into feet, but it has no idea what a cubic yard of gravel weighs — that takes a material's density, which is different for every material. Every converter here bakes in real density values per material and shows the assumptions behind the number, not just a bare unit-math result.

What this isn't

These converters are not a substitute for a supplier's own weight ticket on a delivered load, and they don't work out how much material a project needs from its dimensions — for that, see a project material calculator such as buildmaterialplanner.com's gravel, concrete or mulch calculators.

Frequently asked questions

Is ConstructionConverter really free?

Yes. Every converter result is free with no account or login required.

How accurate are the conversions?

Conversions use published typical density values for each material, not a live weight ticket from your specific supplier. Treat results as a close estimate — confirm with your supplier for anything you're paying for by weight.

Does this replace a project material calculator?

No. A converter turns a known quantity into another unit. A project calculator works out how much material a project needs from its dimensions.
